Riley's story

Hello everyone!!! So I know Kari updated everyone and posted some great pics. However, I wanted to let you know Riley's life story up until today..... I began having contractions around 11p.m. Thursdays night. By early Friday a.m.  they were 8-10 min apart. I called the Dr. and was told not to go in. Needless to say I had been up all night. They recommended I take some Tylenol pm and so I did.... Contractions then became much stronger around 2:30 p.m. and woke my from my deep sleep. At this point the contractions were still 8-10 min apart, I was needless to say I was ready for the big event to happen. It was not until 9:00 p.m. that the contractions became consistently 5 min apart. Matt then quickly realized that he might need a shower. :) So... Matt was taking a shower and they became 3 min apart and I very uncomfortable informed my husband it was time TO GO!!! We got to the hospital around 10:30. My blood pressure as a little high so they ran some labs. The nurse went to check me and I nicely informed her that if she told me I was still only one centimeter I was not going to be her friend. She gave me good news, for I was dilated to a 3/4. The contractions became much stronger and I began my "drug seeking". I was quickly informed that I had to actually be admitted to obtain the drugs. I then explained we needed to get the show on the road. I got my epidural when I was dilated to a 5. I was in love with everyone at this point. Ha ha! Matt and I tried to get some sleep. They then broke my water around 7 a.m. I quickly dilated to a 10 and began "pushing" @ 8 a.m. Riley was then born at 10:08 a.m Jan 17, 2009. She is beautiful. Very small due to some unknown issues with my placenta. She has done well eating and maintaining her temp. She is jaundice and they just took her to the nursery to give her double bank. phototherapy. We are hoping to go home tomorrow but we will see what her bili does in the am. Needless to say I had an emotional breakdown when we had to take her to the nursery to stay.
We want to thank everyone for there encouragement,  congrats, and visits. It has meant so much to us. Thank you!!!!! We love you all. We or Kari :) will keep you updated on any changes.  Hopefully tomorrow we will be able to blog about her first day home, but we will see........
